That’s certainly what I was hoping for but haven’t had the courage (or need yet) to actually do it yet.

Yea, but what about copying that back to the internal HDD as the main system?

I’ve created an external first install of Leopard on a Lacie external as a testbed. I’m still in the process of installing all the apps on it. If and when it’s flawless (being a FW drive on the MBP I don’t think I’ll get my IoHD running because of it’s need of the bus) what’s the chance I will be able to CCclone it to the main drive?

What this has proved is that a problem I was having with Motion and big bitmaps is probably a Tiger-GeForce8600 issue as it disappears under Leopard.

thanks for the response guys. I’ve a feeling that it’s a vram issue ?hardware/driver, as occasionally motion will do a ram preview with a couple of black frames.

I’ve been a bit reluctant to load QT7.4, because of reported issues on the Cow, so will clone the system Monday and try it on the clone.

May also try Leopard that way – but that’s for the future.

How many bites of the cherry are you allowed with this one? Do some serious research if you can’t afford a reshoot.

I’ve done no aerial stuff, but do have both a PDW350 and an EX1. I dearly love them both but it’s ‘horses for courses’ and I’ve seen examples of uncorrectable aerial footage shot by the EX1.

My understanding is:

They are unstabilizable because the rolling shutter of the EX1 results in intraframe errors that cannot be removed by stabilization software.

The ccd of the 350 has a global shutter resulting in clean stills (when in progressive mode), whereas the cmos of the EX1 scans for each frame and results in single frames that are scan exposed over the duration of the shutter angle. Even when used interlace these principles apply.

Go for the XDcam HD. I’ve seen bad examples of the rolling shutter of the EX when used for aerial work.

these plugins aren’t showing up on my install. I have ‘effects\showall’ enabled.

Perhaps it’s time for a trashPrefs or re-install?

Works for me with a Microsoft notebook optical mouse.

Took me ages to find one that would work with the middle button properly in ‘Color’!

the corruption is a totally random pixellation of the whole display that animates and resembles noise as the windows are moved around.

Terry, have you tried keying from a straight HDSDI footage capture to a HDD using say ProResHQ rather than the mpg files?

Should be a lot better I guess if you’re in a studio situation with the Mac/PC and a HDD available.
