    hmmm… not quite sure i’m getting it… but– is the problem solved with a simple time remap?

    apply time remapping to the ‘bars’ layer. By default you get two keyframes, on the second keyframe, right click it and select ‘hold keyframe.’

    this will now hold til the end of your comp, while the other one continues to loop…

    this was done very simply.

    they shot a ‘clean plate’ — a shot of the living room with nothing in it.

    then they shot the dude walking in, passing the box over his body….

    then someone with a bit of time sat down, put the two layers over the top of eachother, and rotoscoped out the dude’s lower body, revealing through to the clean plate.

    hey Alistair; creative cow is good for asking specific questions, but more generalised questions, particularly when people are looking for ideas; can sometimes sneak under the radar. most of the people replying regularly to the forum are ae professionals, so asking for general ideas can be hard to come by! the best thing to do, is find a link with an effect you like, then ask how it was done…

    there is a trapcode plug in that does just this. check out trapcode’s website and go to the gallery 🙂
