Hi I am still sort of new with AE. I know how to get around the program alright I just cant always make it do what I want it too. Currently I am working on a menu in which at the bottom of the screen there is an animation that happens once to reveal the buttons for the menu. At the top of the screen is a slide show that continously loops. However I do not wish for the bottom animation to loop. Is this possible? I would appreciate any thoughts.

    Thanks in advance

yes. you’ll need two compositions –> one comp for the looping animation, the the final comp for your non looping animation, and your pre-composed looping animation.

    if that makes sense… (!)

Hey thanks for your help I did try it and I am still not quite getting it to work. Perhaps a little more explanation from me would help. One comp is of the bottom animation which I call “bars” it is a four second animation but then has to remain on screen for the duration. The top animation is “Slide Show” which runs about 10 seconds which I want to continually loop. I have pre-comped “bars” and put it with “slide show” therefore it too runs 10 seconds. The problem is once the “slide show” starts over “bars” will rerun it original animation instead of simply remaining a background. I understand that the timeline is simply playing over again it seems that there should be away to play an animation once and then hold it as a background as another animation loops.

Alright that is a really long explanation maybe it will help. I think I am overlooking something very obvious here but I just can’t get the thing to work any help would be awesome.

    Thanks

hmmm… not quite sure i’m getting it… but– is the problem solved with a simple time remap?

apply time remapping to the ‘bars’ layer. By default you get two keyframes, on the second keyframe, right click it and select ‘hold keyframe.’

this will now hold til the end of your comp, while the other one continues to loop…

    hope it helps.
