Can’t you just emit a bunch of letters to fill the screen, then turn off the emitter at the same time you have the blast in effect start?

Hey I’m not 100% sure this is the effect that you want but try putting an image map on the video you want to play inside the text, then drag the text layer into the source map.

Try duplicating the layer instead of cloning.

So you really wan’t to stretch this whole project to 2 and a half minutes??? Well the easiest thing you could to add the text you want then export it. Then pull the movie back in and stretch it out to 2:30.

Well can we have a little more information then just you can’t export?? Like, what do you mean?

DO NOT use a replicator for this! It would just slow down everything. Do this. Apply the Tile filter, it can be found here [ Filter->Tiling->Tile ]
Then you can get the tile effect like shown the picture. (sorry for the colors, I did this in 1 minute)(no time to think about colors :P)

Well then all you have to do is use the scale properties. Twirl down the little arrow in front of the scale properties, and you can change the X,Y,Z parameters individually.
When you say video wall, are you talking about your working area, or the size of your composition, say 720×1280?
