Just use the XENA installer (the latest is version 2.0.2) and only install the QuickTime Codec. The latest XENA software can be found at our website:

…just choose which XENA you are using.

Again, only install the QT codec on the PC’s you wish to have the codec reside on.

Hi,

KONA LHe does not have cross-conversion, which is the feature you are looking for to convert 720 <-> 1080. The KONA 3 does have this capability, as well as SD to HD up-convert.

While we cannot speak to the quality of the BM products, we can tell you that our downconverter on the LHe is:

– 10bit hardware-based (no load on CPU)
– codec agnostic…will work with uncompressed, DVCPRO-HD, HDV, Animation codec, etc.
– will work from both 720p and 1080i material
– can work as a stand-alone downconverter, from signals passing through the card (E-to-E)
– can be applied to any or all outputs (HD-to-SD output)
– can be applied to any or all inputs (HD-to-SD input)
– is excellent quality! (based on our rackframe converter and mini-converter broadcast products)

Uncompressed’s advice is good, to find a local reseller who can show you both in action. Also, feel free to contact us to discuss any of our products.

In the hopes to eliminate this potential configuration issue for others as they migrate to the new Mac Pro, the information Gary provided is in the READ-ME of our 3.0 driver, as follows:

PCIe Slot Configuration Notes for Mac Pro Computers

The default Apple factory configuration of PCIe slots in a Mac Pro has slot 4 set as a x4 lane, slot 3 as a x4 lane, slot 2 as a x1 lane and slot 1 as a x16 lane. For proper operation, place the KONA card in slot 3 and your HBA card (RAID controller) in slot 4 of the Mac Pro machines.

If you are unsure of the slot configuration as used in your machine, it can be determined by using the The Expansion Slot Utility, found in the following directory location on your Mac Pro: /System/Library/CoreServices. Occasionally, users may purchase a Mac Pro and find that the slots are not configured to the standard factory defaults; checking the configuration with the Expansion Slot Utility allows you to verify the setting is as desired (sample screenshot contained in Release Notes).
