I hope the limiter values can be user defined and allow for a soft clip instead of a hard one.

duh! Does this update only work with FCP 5.1????
I’m still running 5.0.4, and didn’t plan on updating to Universal because I’m still running G5’s and don’t plan to upgrade anytime soon….or at least until everyone one is happy with the MacPro machines.

    Thanks

This is amazing, and typical AJA. This is why I go crazy when people sometimes say “yea, nothing is new” (like when they introduced the internal Frame Sync for free on the I/O, or cross convert on the Kona 3). AJA could have CHARGED US for this fantastic feature, that you would pay Videotek A LOT OF MONEY FOR. But its FREE. AMAZING.

I was in the same boat as you, until i heard about the new version of FCP (5.1.2) that will handle P2 better (we use p2 as a secondary camera very often, so it applied to our needs). Also, there’s no more real product development for FCP 5.0.x. if you upgrade to 5.1, you’ll get all the updates. I sent in my disks and got them in short order and the install was painless. Do it and you won’t be disappointed. Plus, it’s only 50 bucks, if you wait you will have to pay 5-6 times that price or more for an upgrade. This deal ends at the end of this year I believe.

got another new thing for you…

In the V3 of the control panel- hold down the control key and mouse over the IO indicators and you can change the in’s and out’s settings from the main display without having to tab between all the different options.

and remember that holding down the CMD key allows you to access the kona control panel (if it is open on the desktop) while still in FCP.

Yeah…ends in December. I was on the site last night. If my math is correct, FCP6 won’t be out until ’07 if this promotion runs until December. We usually get Christmas gifts from Apple!! Thanks for the advice, I’ll upgrade next week.

The limiter really is a good feature, but my questions are “how good is it” and “how reliable is it”?

I guess I’ll have to get the 5.1 update now then
