The performance you’re seeing is correct.

The performance you see with Adobe Premiere Pro when no 3rd party hardware is installed is enhanced by the fact that no full resolution, high bit depth video needs to be delivered to a professional device. To realize that performance many different shortcuts can be used in the playback engine processing things at lower resolutions, bit depths, or colorspaces in order to achive higher performance.

When professional quality hardware is involved however, these shortcuts cant be taken when users expect pristine quality for output to their professional devices. The sacrifice is some of the performance. What you get in return is outstanding broadcast quality.

If you are experiencing issues related to your displays, it may be because you are using the regular version of the driver and not the NDD version of the driver. In some cases, interaction with the graphics cards and the Macintosh Desktop Display feature can be problematic. This is noted in the support section for the drivers. You may want to try the NDD version of the driver available from the AJA website where you downloaded the regular version, the NDD version is listed second after the regular version:

You may wish to update to the KONA version 7.5.1 driver as this issue does sometimes appear with version 7.5 and the KONA LHe. KONA version 7.5.1 addresses this issue.

Yes, you can move clips in the “AJA” folder on the Ki Pro Storage Module to the Trash, then perform a Finder>Empty Trash… when the Storage Module is mounted on the computer as storage.

If you leave the “AJA” labeled folder in place and only move the contents of the folder to the Trash, then you can simply drag the Storage Module to the Trash to eject it and then re-insert it in Ki Pro for use.

You can also easily delete your clips from the Ki Pro via the MEDIA>Delete Clips parameter. Information on this parameter can be found in the Ki Pro manual in the MEDIA Menus section of the manual. Note that the Ki Pro Storage Module can be used to hold data other than Apple ProRes 422 QuickTime recordings. If other files are saved to the Ki Pro Storage Module, they should be placed outside of the “AJA” folder. Any material inside of the “AJA” folder will be erased if a MEDIA>Delete Clips>DELETE ALL is performed.

Hi,

In actuality, the new 7.1 Io HD driver will also work with FCP 6. The only version of FCP that Io HD won’t work with is FCP 7.0. If a user is running FCP 7.0 then they need to run Software Update, to update to the latest FCP 7.0.1.

The new 7.1 Io HD driver will also work in both “Snow Leopard” OSX 10.6.x and “Leopard” OSX 10.5.x systems.

AJA tech support is free of charge and they respond as quickly as possible to requests for assistance as they possibly can.
