  • DS Keyer stops working when I activate Edit to Tape

Yea, subject says it all. Reboot. Set up DS Keyer. Launch FCP. Output has key over it. Activate Edit to Tape. DS Keyer stops working.

    Kona 3
    FCP 7.0.1
    AJA 7.1

Is there a way to fix this? I’m hoping that driver 7.5 fixes it.

    Jay-

What format is everything in including your alpha?

Video in FCP is ProRes 422. File being loaded for the DS Keyer is a PhotoShop file. I’m doing Graphic over Frame Buffer.

I’ll admit, it’s been a long time since I have done this, but after the ETT start and you click back on the control panel, you can’t force it to start again?

I honestly can’t remember if you can do this on ETT, I know it can be done in AJA TV.

    SDI is set to video+key?

I don’t think that Video+Key is it. According to page 60 of the manual it’s for feeing an outboard downstream keyer. Plus that the Kona3 internal DS Keyer is working until I activate Edit To Tape and then it quits working. And also that I just tried that and it still does the same thing.

Sorry, Jay. Not at a machine right now I’ll have to check for you tomorrow
unless someone else gets here first.

    Video+key is for a switcher.

Doing te method you are trying using an exported
movie in to AJATV will work. Just have to check on fcp.

It use to work fine back when I was running FC Studio 2 on an earlier MacPro. AJA was v6.something. I upgraded a couple of months ago we upgraded and I noticed then that it quit working. But I only need it for another week so I suffered through cutting the element into the timeline in FCP and rendering to do the output. But now I need the feature again, doing a custom graphic element on the output to tape and I would really like to do it in real time like I use to. And it would be nice if this could get fixed.

    I heard back from AJA

    Hi Jay,

    This is a known issue.
Look for the fix on Monday when we release v7.5.1.

    Best regards

So, I was told last Friday by Rudy Van Kol at AJA that a new driver would be posted last Monday, and it was not. I wrote to them Monday and Tuesday asking when it would be posted and still have not gotten any reply at all.

Anyone hear anything on this yet?

    Thanks,
    Jay
