Use the effect called CC simple wire removal. I’ve used it for a bunch of wire removal shots.
The Cycore (CC) effects come with After Effects 7 and some versions of 6.5 – seperate installer on the disc though.

Not sure if this is your problem, but I’m guessing…
If you have collapse transofrmations turned on, the nested comps will ignore their internal camera, and use the main (or current) comps camera. What you are probably seeing is the result of all of the comps using the same camera which is looking at them head on.
Am I right?

Yes. you need to precompose the layer. Watch these short video’s and it will explain how that works:

if your particles are going to be small, then keep the image small, if bigger then make sure to keep your logo shape image bigger.
Things definately get jages if you use too big an image for samller particles.

the pro emitters have some stuff where the logo shoots out a bit, but not like this. there are other AE plug-ins that do the same thing, such as the saphire plug-ins. They may work with Premiere.
Ultimately, I don’t think PI can do what you need in this case.

January 5, 2007 at 6:10 pm in reply to: Can “echo” be gradually increased in size?No BG at all on the Displacement map.
And I set it to use the dsip. effect to use Brightness for distortion.
I also used the displacement map as a 25% visible image between the “actor” and BG, and set the transfer mode to Add. This helps accent the distortion without making it rediculous, and slightly tints in color like in the video clip.

January 5, 2007 at 5:50 pm in reply to: Can “echo” be gradually increased in size? After you psted the question, I tried this myself – and you;re right the big problem is that yeah, it needs to get bigger and fade afterwards. Short of converting the keyed footage to an image sequence, and then frame by frame placing the position of each running frame correctly and then having each frame animate by scaling up and fading out (and this took quite a while), there’s not way I can think of to do this.
I tried it with both echo time and particlular, and with echo time you already know the issues, and with particlular, you don’t have the option of emitting one frame, and holding it, and then the next frame and holding it (which sucks becasue it has the rest of the tools you’d need, such as size over life and opacity over life). It’s frustrating becasue it;s the one option in all the possibilities for using video frames as particles that isn’t there.
Anyway with that rediculous effort (One I’m not likely to repeat), I got this:

for melting the frost (Which should be generated either via that plugin or made in photoshop or whatever), I’d use the simple choker effect (MAtte > Simple Choker). It disolves the edges of a layer. and like it was suggested, use roughen edges as well to give it a some randomness.

Also remember that you can color correct later – adding an adjustment layer over the entire shot with some colorizing effects. You’d be surprised how much more cohesive things look after color correcting everything together.
You will need to use the same color correcting on every other shot in the same scene so it doesn’t look out of place – but if you’re doing a moody piece (and I’d qualify a levitation at night as moody) you would *probably* be doing this anyway.

I am pretty sure that all vesions of AE 7 come with the CC effects, unlike previous versions – in which only non-educational versions included the plug-ins.
