Alan has commented here that Version 4 of pIllusion has the aim of going 3D – until that version, you will definately not see 3D, and certainly not Z-Depth information.
FOr now, I suggest you render layers seperately and then combine them in a program like AE or compbustion, and apply effects like blur to them seperately to simulate Z-Depth.

Maya units and AE units aren’t a perfect match, no matter what you do. So in very precise situations, it doesn’t work well. This solves for that issue.

Theres; no perfect way to get the maya camera into AE without 3rd party help. There is an Maya to AE plug-in called “MoCon” from a group called 3D mation (or 3Dmation), but I don’t know their site – so you have to do some searching. Maybe it will help.

mostly keep your stroke size to a small number (so it’s thin), and decrease the spacing.
But if you are using it as a matte, why does it matter if it’s red? Mattes are invisible.

Thanks for this. This is great. Have you considered making this a written tutorial with pictures. i think it would help a lot of people.
Something I should mention is that keylight has some color correction tools hidden deep down in there. I’m curious if you tried those at all to counter the loss of green.

I am working on a very advanced expression tutorial (A nother trilogy, but part 2 is the expression part) – thanks to the help of Dan Ebberts. It may be a while yet, but it will really good for people that want to dig deaper into this powerful feature (expressions) in AE.

Nucleo’s one big weakness is Illustrator files. If you were using Illustrator artwork, it can actually hinder performance. But that aside, my experience with Nucleo was great. Of course I have Nucleo Pro, which has tools that are definately worth the money – such as background render while you work.
You do need a lot of RAM, and in fact, I am purchasing my next computer based around what would best serve the uses of AE with Nucleo Pro.
