I filmed this on a tripod, did my compositing, and then used a simple wiggle expression on both the position and rotation.
For rotation you want to use very little – not more than 1 or 2 degrees.

Older versions of AE 5.5 had a “Default camera” that could be panned, zoomed, and rotated. It wasn;t an actual layer, but it was there. It could not be animated.
Newer versions like, CS3, don’t have this, and the defualt 3D view, without a camera, can’t be panned, zoomed…etc.
However, because, in old version, you could move the defualt camera, they had to find a way to make it possible to open old files in AE CS3 with the 3D view still in-tact. So, if you open an Old AE file in a new version, it has a “Defualt AE 5.5 Camera” (or whatever it’s called).
You may want to delete the camera called “Default AE 5.5 Camera” and see if that get’s rid of the problem. AE will try to render the active camera, and depending on the stack order and in and ouit points, it may be seeing the wrong camera.

Like Riccardo said – you need to get a font where every character is the same size – some fonts are designed for this sort of thing.

If you applied the stabilization (by hitting the stabilize button) then you should be golden. Unless… you are still looking at the layer window – the window where you track, and not the comp window. They occupy the same space – so make sure you have the correct tab selected.

I’m a PC guy, and I have both a Boxx and Boldata computer. You get a better price on Boldata for the same thing.
But, PC-ness aside, If you have the ability (i.e., funding) to get yourself an 8 core mac and tons of RAM, why not go that way? You won’t get that kind of power in Windows right now. Even with XP 64’s ability to use more ram, I haven’t seen a PC with 8 processors that was nearly as afordable as a mac.
Admittedly, I haven’t looked for about 6 months so that may have changed.
Of course the currne issues with leopard make it iff at the moment, but I’m sure that will change.

if you’re client is paying, maybe you can pad the cost of this into your project for the extra work…
Zaxwerks has a plug-in that can distribute objects in 3D space, but scale them up appropriately so they look the same. In other words, it moves them back and scales them up so that they appear to be the same size until you move into 3D space.
