  • Urgent Help Needed….Alpha channel issue

First of all I need to apologise because I know this will probably be posted countless time but I have an important deadline tomorrow and am too stressed.

I have created a animated graphic in After Effects which I want to import into Avid xpress and drop over the footage. Each time I render and import it places a black background behind the graphic.

I need step by step instructions on how to set this graphic to export with a tranparent background into another program

    Please Help!

Did you render out your file as Millions of Colors+ (RGB+Alpha)?

    Hi!

What I usually do is export a jpg sequence with alpha channel activated, it will give you two sequences the original one and the alpha channel one, I don’t use Avid but I am almost sure it can manage jpg sequences as video as well as permitting you to use the alpha channel sequence to be used as a matte, I don’t use Avid but you could try this way.

    Regards

    Alejandro

Make sure you have “invert alpha” selected on your import
setting on the avid end of things.

Yes to most of the above but give yourself some slack. The section in the AE manual on alphas is long and confusing. I imagine the one in the Avid manual is, too. Read them carefully. Probably twice.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”
