Are those audio settings your audio output settings, or are those the specs on the audio source file?

If you are using an MP3 as your audio source, convert it to WAV outside of AE. MP3’s casue all sorts of problems in the audio, which you don’t hear until you render.

Also, make sure you don’t have more than one copy of the audio file in your comp, or that other source footage you have in there doesn’t have audio. If they do, and you are not using them, turn off their audio switch in the timeline.

  • Also, rather than running it out to photoshop, you could just work in AE, by duplicating your footage, time remapping it so it is locked to only the frame (timeline frame, not picture frame) you want, and then masking out the footage to fit into the picture frame, basically cutting out the outside part that you don’t want. I’ve been meaning to try this myself, but haven’t had time.

To spare yourself some grief on getting rid of the tracker points, it may help to use a solid color frame that isn’t reflective, and then use the change to color effect to convert your marker points to the color of the frame. It might not work well, though – as I said, I haven;t had a chance to try this myself.

    Keep up the good work!

Interlaced motion from left to right can look really mechanical, but sometimes you just have to go with it if you have the problem you mentioned.

I haven;t seen the ad, but here goes…

There are a lot of ways it can be done – Personally, I prefer to do it with Null objects, rather than the camera whcih can get hairy, but sometimes you have to do it that way.

The defualt Camera can’t be animated since AE 5.5, so if you do it with a camera, make a new one.

Set up the photos in 3D space and then link them to the nul. Then bring the null forward at whatever speed you want.

This is just a suggestion, not the rule of thumb. Therea re definatyely other ways to do this. FOr example, setting everything up in 3D space, Nesting the 3D comp in a new comp, colapsing transformations and making it a 3D layer, and then just animating the nested layer. Or you COULD animate the camera instead. It’s a workflow thing – whatever you find works for you.

For a great example of 2.5D, check out the movie: “The Kid Stays in The Picture” – done by Edgeworx, an After Effects-based animation house in NYC.

I like the Circle Star one the best.

I see you use Poser – I thought about making one with the fish, but I never got around to it. Nice job.

The only thing I’ll tell you is that when you slow down the emitter shape cycling (to slow it down), it looks a little jittery – for example, on the dolphins, the dolphins are moving at 15 FPS, so it sort of stutters when you are working at 30 FPS. If you want it not to do that, but still want it to be slow, you need to plan ahead, and set up your poser animation to be twice as long (or rather 50% the speed).

    Make sense?

  • Where did you create the image. If you did it in photoshop, I think you need to create a seperate Alpha Channel manually, in the channels palette. See if that works. Remember, you have to create the channel and then fill it with something – a black alpha channel has no opacity – it’s completely transparent.

When it comes to moving blockers, you have to do it by hand. At the center of your blocker is a dot – If you move this dot, a new position key is created. Each of the points that make up the blocker can also be moved and animated.

If you look in the heirarchy window at the blocker, you will see the blocker (which if selected shows it’s position keys) and a folder with points (which again, if selected show you position keys). Every time you move the blocker or points, a new key is generated.

In that case, my friend, you should definately go through the help files which are in the handy form of several tutorials to bring you up to speed.

Then, go to the wondertouch website (Click on the particleIllusion Logo on top) to see some tutorials.

That should get you moving pretty quickly.

    Good luck.

July 19, 2005 at 12:07 am in reply to: CC Force Motion Blur on .RPF sequence

That effect doesn’t do what you think it does.

Force motion blur will create a blur in several situations that I know of:

    – Time remapped footage that runs faster than it did originally.
    – A nested comp with an effect that doesn’t have a blur – like CC page turn.
    – There are other situations, but I can;t think of them off hand.

For a motion blur post effect, like you want, you’d need to use Re:VisionFX’s ReelSmart Motion Blur. It’s pretty good.

Are you going to use a company name or your name. Either way, what is the name you want to use? You can try and base the animation off of the name, and make it appropriate to that, or you can just do something that looks cool.

It might help you to look at what other people have done to get an idea about timing, and the types of effects people use in thier logo’s. Rather than mimmicing them, you may even want to try something really different.

    Hope this helps.
