So not by the metadata in the XML that contains the file locations?……
This seems annoying….I guess I’ll have to learn about these “soft paths” – I usually work with projects containing media spread over several folders on multiple volumes on a fibre / SAN system.

Don’t have the decklink card at the moment so I guess that explains why I can’t hear the audio….but I also can’t see the waveform when I right click…..no option to even do that…..but yes….audio is “enabled” in the audio options contextual dialog box…..
So if I don’t automatically link to my media on xml import, if I just add those volumes to the pool afterwards will the system automatically link it all up for me?

Thanks- so anything “unsupported” needs to be baked as a self contained quicktime or just doesn’t show with the ‘effect’ in Resolve, but can be graded and survives the round trip?

Also is there any chance an installation of Resolve lite with affect FCP7 and Color on the same machine?
Thx

I am used to working without great playback fps in Color so that is not a dealbreaker for me. I don’t have the imac yet (or obviously the Ultratudio). Has anyone actually done some grading with an imac and have real world experience?
I guess I don’t need realtime playback as long as the grading experience is responsive and stable.
I would be using LION and the most recent version of RESOLVE.
Would love to hear some real world experiences before I buy something.
Of course if the MX02 was supported I could use my MACBOOK Pro (which has an NVidia card in in!) like I do for Color, but as far as I know there is no news about 3rd party video cards being supported 🙁

Hi,
Thanks for the idea…..
I cannot find any settings in FCP related to NDF or DF…..
Perhaps someone knows where any such settings are, if they exist?
Does anyone know if this could be an issue related to HDV & / or DVCProHD1080i & / or Kona LH?

Hi,
The original photo jpeg offline media was captured by someone else in long chunks.
Perhaps this explains the problem – it seems unfortunate that FCP can’t be smarter about resolving this issue when I create an offline project composed of small clips….
Next time I use media manager I will try to use the setting ‘base media filenames’ on clip names rather than ‘existing file names’, as it appears to me that the long clips were then subdivided into smaller clips in FCP in many cases.
Any other solutions?
Perhaps someone clever could write some sort of script to deal with this issue?…..such things are beyond me unfortunately…..

Hmmmm…..
I’ve been using Fcp on broadcast projects for over a year now……
And while I’m not an “‘AVID’ is great, ‘FCP’ is crap” guy, the more I use FCP in a professional TV environment with mulitple bays and shared media as well as an offline / online workflow, I’m feeling “AVID” is much better at this, with fewer bugs…..
FCP seems fine if you are using one bay, and not doing a traditional offline / online process…..
