September 25, 2012 at 3:19 pm in reply to: prores 442HQ files playing with reverb or out of sync in QT player on Lion mac proproblem fixed!
although its not possible to install snow leopard on the new mac pro’s, I was able to clone a snow leopard OS
drive from another mac pro and use it on the new macpro without issue. Using the snow leopard OS has solved the quicktime playback issues.
it is worth noteing however that the lion OS did not cause problems with all prores file types in fact it was fine with prores 422 and HQ from other projects which leads me to believe that it may only be a problem with prores files that have originated as XDCAM HD, but i have not had time to test it.
JUst thought I’d share that with the group. -
Will audio effects also stay

January 7, 2011 at 10:45 am in reply to: Advice on working in a xdcam-ex 23.98 project with some 29.97 and 25 frame mediaOk it now seems like we’ve had some success bringing shorter
xdcam-ex 29.97 clips into the 23.98 project. There are a lot
of long (over 1 hour) clips in this job so we’ll probably make sequences with shorter clips and bring those in either that
or subclip the longer clips. Will post again if we encounter any further problems. -
Just out of interest if you buy a brand new
macbook pro and it comes with osx 10.6.3.
Whats the easiest way to downgrade it to
10.6.2? -

September 3, 2009 at 6:13 pm in reply to: Upgrading to FCP 7 and AVC-Intra Software Decoder for MacSo presumably 3 internal sata drives connected to the onboard
sata connections and striped together would be fine for avcintra 100 and a 422 prores HQ timeline. Although I thought I read somewhere on this forum that you can’t stripe raid 5 using disk utility but I could be wrong about that -

footage?.”Yes….it is fine for ProRes too.
Blimey gotta say I’m surprised a g-raid3 is fast enough for 10Mbits avc-intra. But what about a pro-res 422HQ sequence?.
-
The choices aren’t mine to make unfortunately, the director gets to choose what format to shoot with not me. I suspect I will import the footage initially at dvcpro-hd res onto a g-raid3 connected to the imac.
And then re-import the footage at prores 422HQ on the mac-pro (hopefully with a g-speed fc or similar connected. If anyone has tried deleting and re-capturing p2-hd media at a higher res and has any advice I would like to hear it.. -

September 3, 2009 at 3:34 pm in reply to: Upgrading to FCP 7 and AVC-Intra Software Decoder for MacI have a question if you have to have a pro-res timeline then
would it not make more sense to import the clips in pro-res 422?.
Also is a G-Raid connected via FW800 fast enough for AVC-INTRA 100mbits
footage?. -
Also thought I should mention that the material could well be
AVC-Intra 100Mbits.
