Perhaps they used a spline wrap deformer rather than a sweep?

From the help file: “With this option enabled the cloth engine will allow for tearing to take place during the simulation. But in order for this tearing to work, the cloth object must be a child of the Cloth object. In other words, the Cloth object is the actual surface that will be torn, not the original cloth object.”

  • Set your texture tag to use Flat projection. Then it won’t move/scale with your object (unless you apply a Stick Texture tag).

Go to the View menu of the viewport you want to use as the render view and enable “Use as Render View”.

If you want to switch between multiple cameras in a single render you have to use the Environment>Stage Object and keyframe the Camera slot.

Enter a highish value (30+) for the Follow Rotation parameter in the dynamics tag’s Force tab.

I don’t see any way to automate it, but you could make relatively quick work of it by copying and pasting and then offsetting the animation and position/rotation.

I don’t think it’s possible because the spline masks are essentially generating new geometry every frame. I believe Alembic is the only export format that would work.

Okay, I think I was able to get pretty close.

    Here’s the formula I used:

    Color: diffuse.tga
    Diffusion: ao.png
    Reflection: (see below)

I used the Filter in the Roughness slot to invert the glossiness map.

I haven’t used PBR textures but my guess for R16 or R17 would be:

Diffuse: I’m not entirely sure about this one. I would have thought it would go in the color slot, but you also list a color texture so maybe diffuse goes in luminance?

Gloss: This goes in the texture slot beneath the roughness slider in a reflectance layer (click the arrow in front of “Roughness” to twirl down the option. Set the roughness slider to 100% to get the full effect of the map.

Normals: This goes in the material’s Normal channel. You may have to experiment with different settings to get the right result.

Specular: This goes in the reflectance layer’s Specular texture slot. I’d recommend deleting the default specular layer.

AO: this would go in the Diffusion channel.

If you can post a file with the textures I’d be happy to have a look.

  • If you go with a constraint tag or Xpresso you may need bake the xpressions before you export to AE. But try it out and see if it works first.
