It sounds to me like you have a massive video file somewhere. Back in the old days – error -36 always used to refer to a scsi problem…but i think that was on Avid so its probably not relevant here..
How long is the finished clip intended to run?
Mark in /out points, alt-A to select the marked clips, then Export – Quicktime Movie.
this should give you a rendered movie file of just the section you highlighted, and should be a more manageable size for exporting to a different drive.

One other thing springs to mind….are the timelapse shots done “in camera” or in edit?
By that i mean , have you edited a long file into a series of individual frames to create the timelapse?, or did the camera shoot at a slow frame rate and you are just playing back the uneditied clip?
If you have done the edit to get the effect, it could be that you are over taxing the drive. You could try exporting the sequence to a new quicktime movie (same settings as sequence) then re-importing that.
Basically – you create a new consolidated movie clip that does not require the drive to go into overdrive finding every frame from all over the discs area.adam

the only safe answer is ASK THEM!!
Not all stations transmit in HD yet, so the best thing you could do is contact the Transmission dept and ask their advice.

okay – i see what you are trying to achieve. There are plenty of ways you can tackle this – all without changing the physical size of the video frame.
Firstly, more questions….
what is the background?
Is the man stood in front of a plain backdrop? Is he “chroma keyed”?
Is he stood centrally in the frame?Assuming its a plain background and he is stood centrally, then you could try this….duplicate the shot and layer them directly on top of each other. On the top layer use the position tool to move the image to the left (or right) until the man is positioned where you want him. Apply a crop to the right hand edge of the frame with a feather setting to soften the crop. Blur the lower layer this will have the effect of extending the background on one side.
Alternately you could try crop the man more closely and layer him over an artificial background. How you do that is up to you – there are as many methods as there are editors using them!
Or – perhaps you could create a completely new shot by taking a photo of a TV in a suitable location, then crop and distort the man to appear as if he is in the tv screen with the text appearing elsewhere in the frame. Obviously context is important here – only you know what would be suitable for the shot. Have fun, experiment and think outside the box (pun intended !!)
One final thing to bear in mind – if this was being made to view on a tv, then widening the frame of the edit would only cause the final edit to look wrong. A tv has a specific width and height, and the image you put into it must match up otherwise your image will distort. Your tv might shrink the image to fit the width, causing the height to shrink by the same amount and thus you will have black gaps at top and bottom. Or it may scale to fit by height in which case parts of your image will get cut off at either side.
Its sensible practice to stick with the tried and tested standard dimensions, and change your composition to reflect this.

I didn’t mean to imply it was easy, Walter! After all – even a window cleaner has to work pretty hard to get a good result! 😉
For me, where you got the most impressive results was on the dusty desert landscapes, where the distance haze was lifted almost as if you had a post-production polarizing filter. Really nicely done, and thanks for showing a before and after – its so rare to actually see how much work has been done to the rushes. All too often viewers think what they see is exactly what the cameraman supplied.

thats an impressive demo of what you can do with Color, Walter.
One cheeky little thought that struck me was maybe they should change its name to Apple ScreenWipe – The contrast between before and after was like looking through a partially cleaned window….very dusty on one side and clean, bright and shiny on the other!

I feel your pain – its happened to me quite a few times.
What i have found is it usually happens if one of the clips on the timeline is a photo jpeg quicktime. But not always – often they render just fine! My guess is that there is a corrupt bit of data in one of the clips.
I find that when this happens (assuming your timeline content is not a single video clip) selecting a section then rendering it, then the next section, etc etc you will probably find there is one clip that keeps giving you the problem. Simply replace it with someting else, or re-digitize it or whatever.

I have no experience of the camera you mention but my initial thought was that it might be worth checking that the sdi output works in playback mode. I seem to recall reading something a while back about a camera which allowed the live signal to pass through sdi but when playing back from tape (or its onboard storage) then the output was via a compressed format.
Perhaps thats what is happening to you?
