  • instead of moving the clone source in time, why not try moving the clone source to a few pixels directly below the light? Looking at the image there seems to be enough material for almost all the frames without having to resort to time displacement tricks.
Use as small a clone as possible and give it a soft edge .

Infact you probably could get away with duplicating the video to another layer, shifting its position vertically a small amount then making a small feathered mask to remove everything except a small patch to cover the light. All the texture changes look like they happen across vertical boundaries so they should line up quite easily.

what you are trying to achieve is called “Forced Perspective”.

a quick google search reveals loads of hits. The first one i clicked shows lots of examples which might just give you an idea for how to achieve your shot. https://digital-photography-school.com/forced-perspective

The main thing is what the earlier poster said – Depth of Field ! nothing like focus issues to give game away.

  • you need to go into the render manager and delete the “constant frames”. That should sort out the problem.

I can’t remember exactly where the option is as I’m not in front of tcp now.

    mine doesn’t!

and you can’t guarantee that everyone will have the very latest machines either. Just something that the OP needs to be aware of.

not all dvd players in europe will play NTSC.

Many machines have cracks that will allow multiple regional discs to play…but it probably wont work on a Sony dvd player. They seem to have locked their machines to play only one region.

i know its just hearsay, but an editor friend told me he was talking to an Apple Store Genius last week who let slip that they had been sent some advance documentation relating to new MacPro’s.
No details – just that the stores seem to be getting notice of them.

and as i say, its ony hearsay.

what is now a highly annoying stylistic thing occasionally cropped up when i used to work in news. Then it was because the reporter had not got the answer they wanted, so tried to bully the editor into “creating” the required response.

Personally i always refused. For me news should be about truth, and changing someones response or cutting a word out to reverse the context is a definite NO!.

I don’t understand why anyone would want it as a stylistic effect…it looks awful and i have never seen a piece that benefitted from it.

April 10, 2012 at 10:38 pm in reply to: Batch Rendering ?

you need to check the render options have been initiated. I can’t remember the exact names as i’m not in front of fcp right now, but you need to click the drop down menu to reveal the render options, then check that each of the render types you need have been highlighted. If they have not simply click on one and it will stay that way until you switch it off again.

If none are selected, or only specific settings are, then it could be that you are telling fcp to render but not actually setting any parameters for it to use.

also – do you use a lot of 3rd party plugins? Many of those are expensive and require extra knowledge and learning. If your files are packed with these hidden extras, the client will be unable to use the files without forking out a large amount of money…perhaps they unaware of this?

March 28, 2012 at 8:19 am in reply to: Suretarget question

surely if you already have a motion path set up, then all you need do is animate either a layer or a null along the path and have sure target set to be looking at that particular layer?

Then as the layer moves, suretarget should follow? as you get to the end of the move switch from the motion target to the next layer.
