or you could try this…
Duplicate your sequence (just in case!!)
then change the sequence settings to a widescreen 16:9 format (i forget the menu buttons – not at the fcp right now),then select all the clips and under the edit menu click on delete attributes,
then choose only the Distort option.
That should do it.

Good point Donal, I better qualify what i said…i hadn’t realised there was the Bamboo range. It might be great, in fact, why would they release a new product if it wasn’t better than the one it superceded…
anyway, i was meaning the Graphire range of cheap tablets. They work, but they feel cheap and uncomfortable to use….pen too light, surface too shiny and slippy.
The intuos have a very good pen with weight and substance in your hand, and a tablet surface that gives just the right amount of resistance.

you may be crazy Jimmy, but i’m there in the nut house with you!
I have exactly the same behaviour you describe, with the wacom intuos 3 widescreen. There is also another bug when trying to move buttons around in DVD SP. You often cannot grab the button to move it, seems to be a hit and miss affair.
Having said that, i would not go back to mouse ever again! My editing is so much faster with a mouse, and with no wrist pains either.
For those who say they tried a tablet but hated it, i would risk a guess that you tried one of the cheaper tablets (even the cheaper wacoms are dreadful). I used to have a cheap one and it was just awful…when my wife got an Intuos i tried it for an hour and have not touched a mouse since.

not quite…commercial cd’s are 44.1khz 16bit, and most digital audio media is 48khz, the bit rate can differ depending on the source.

Panic over – found the solution. Alpha channel settings in the Channel Mixer plug-in.

hi joey,
tried all those things and no luck. I even tried starting a new project from scratch but it still did it.
In the end i got round it by making the run up to the bit i needed longer, so i could edit the jump later, and also re-correct the levels in color grading app later.
Its quite worrying because i think i just saw it happen on a completely different project…but i could have just blinked whilst watching the render!!

I know what you mean – some of the satellite channels have ridiculous amounts of compression on them.
The problem with this particular scenario is that the people requesting the material are not “in the business” and do not understand the differences between formats. They make a specific product, which we sell in the UK. We made a commercial, which they want to supply to other sellers around the world, so have asked me to supply audio dats and mpeg2 dvds!
Its my feeling that they have someone with a little knowledge who thinks he knows whats wanted without actually checking his facts. I’m going to send Digibeta as well, because i’m a pro and don’t want my work buggered about with as mpeg2.

if you are wanting to “compress it” (you might actually mean squash), then you could try adjusting the Aspect Ratio (part of the distort section on the motion tab).
