does it really add a second firewire bus?

I was always under the impression it was the same bus that the firewire socket was connected to and that it just allowed extra connections to that bus.

either way, the expresscard is definitely worth having!

    hi joe,
overall its a nice little video – for me there are only two problems (but thats probably too harsh a word seeing as its all subjective).

1 – the camera was too static.
Too many of the shots were obviously taken from the same few locked-off wides. Music videos are one of the few places that a constantly roving/floating camera can work without really annoying the viewer. Use that to really give your video a sense of waking up to the world round the girl.

    2 – Clumsy colour grading.
throughout i felt i was seeing a plug-in that had been slapped on for effect without too much thought for why…then as the final verse/chorus kicks in and you change the plug-in for a bright sunny one, but again leaving it to look overly artificial. You have good ideas, but just need to practice the various arts in order to progress them. Even if you are wanting a fantasy early morning look, to make it convincing you have to ground enough of the look in reality for the viewer to understand your intentions, then you add the fantasy into the blend to take the reality to your chosen place…and your viewer along with you. Study and learn from nature and you’ll find you can enhance it so much more creatively.

Keep up the good work, and good luck with the competition

you’ll only be able to export the vanishing point data from Photoshop if you have the Photoshop Extended version.

You specify the number of audio channels in the Log & Capture window. Top right hand corner of the pop-up, hit the Clip Settings tab and then enter the desired number of audio tracks.

and even if you do buy into FCP and Apple, and a year down the road Apple stops developing FCP..so what? Your copy will still run, it will still edit video as well as i does today.

Its probably close to a year since FCP had its last upgrade but that doesnt worry me, its working well and i have no doubt whatsoever that if i continue with it in its current state it will still be working perfectly well in another year.

Just because something is not the latest model it does not mean its broken!

May 5, 2010 at 11:39 pm in reply to: FCP batch export to FTP

yeah, sorry – then my final suggestion is that you set up your folder actions to watch for files and then have it send the files directly to a compressor droplet set up as mentioned earlier. Export a quicktime reference movie (as these export really fast because they are only referencing the media already on your system). That way, you are only exporting once from FCP, and your letting folder actions automatically direct the export to the relevant compression and from then onto the destination.
You can also continue to use FCP whilst the process is occuring.

again, not sure if this is quite what you need, but i do know that https://www.yousendit.com has a plug-in that allows you to send files directly from within FCP.

I haven’t used it so i am not sure it will do what you need, but it could be worth investigating.

if compressor can do what you need, but you have to manually set up each export, then surely the easiest option is to create a “Compressor Droplet”, that you dopr the file onto and it automatically does whatever you have set it up to do.
Manual explains how to do this.
