Rafael, Michael – thanks for the input.
I had already set RedcineX to transcode the files to Prorezvwhen i left last night. This morning its still only done 49% !
I had come to the conclusion i would need to finish and grade the edit before framerate conclusion. Thanks for confirming my thinking was right.

well thanks for trying…but to be clear – it was you started the berating by lecturing me on delivery specs, then by admitting you dont actually know about the workflow i was enquiring about.
if i came across as brusque, my apologies.

if you knew anything about broadcast commercials being shot for one market then re-purposed for other overseas teritories, then you wouldn’t have even made your comment!
Many times we get material that we have no say over the framerates etc, because it was not our shoot. We have bought the product to sell and the ad is often part of the deal.

June 18, 2013 at 11:38 am in reply to: MochaAE – odd motion blur issue after tracking finishedthanks Roland.
Those numbers improved the blur on the dodgy frame, but actually made the rest of the track look really bad! However, you put me onto the right path, and a bit of fiddling with the comp setting has got a much improved overall shot.
thanks again

and don’t forget that even a greenscreen instrument will obscure whatever is behind it, and so you’ll need to find a way to replace the musicians midriffs!
Instead of a green instrument, perhaps look into making a skeletal device that they can hold the same as they would an instrument, but which has no body…only tracking markers attached to a framework. This way you will not need to replace anywhere near as much of the background, but yo wil still be able to extract the natural motion.
The downside to that method is the extra rotoscoping needed to put their arms back infront of whatever you key into the shot.
I dont think there are any quick and easy answers for this shot…just think it through and plan it well before shooting.

Thanks for the info, guys. Very useful stuff.
I have already downloaded the DNxHD codec, but for some reason its not showing up in PP.
Maybe another reboot is all it needs!

March 28, 2013 at 1:05 pm in reply to: how to get a *realistic* and powerful flash effect in FCP 7?and depending upon where you intend to show the finished piece, you might come up against specific rules against using flashing images (they have been shown as a possible trigger for epileptic seizures).

you could always try putting the coloured layer above the text layer so it obscures the text.

I replaced a faulty CinemaHD screen six months ago with a Dell U2711 – its been an excellent monitor and would certainly recommend one for extending your desktop realestate.
