APPLE PRO RES 422 HQ
Sure enough…it looks exactly how it should and I dont have to render every time i move a clip around.
Can i confirm I am now on the right wavelength with this??

Agreed.
Instead of doing individual column movements, can you do something like the tracking movement, (at least i think its that), with text but applied to shapes?
That way the shapes move apart with the same degrees of separation but all at the same time?
Thanks for your help.

Go to about 32 sec in for an original zoetrope…
it would be nice to emulate the black bars flicking across the images and then as it speeds up it becomes one continuous shot…
So thinking about it, you would need all the photos in a sequence, side by side, from 1 – 24 or however many, then in z space have those black bars and spaces in front of the images, then somehow, either with a camera or if there is an expression for the photos to then roll from left to right, (depending on the order), for the image to become continuous and also for a speed ramp to occur so that it becomes one whole image, then, with that, some sort of loop applied!?!?!

The flip book style is smart and we may utilise that effect but we are looking to utilise the flickering, rolling, cylindrical Zoetrope type of effect…if thats possible?

[Walter Soyka] “Maybe the particle effects are on guide layers [link]?”
Thank you! They werent set to render out.
Also, as Im new to AFX, and am just carrying out tutorials to get to grips and understanding, are there any settings I should be aware of to obtain high quality output footage and make sure that everything is set up to run smoothly?
Regards

What I/O card (or box) are you using to play this into the 1500 … and how is it connected to the deck? – BLACKMAGIC / SDI
What is the source format / sequence format in FCP … and what is your Video Playback setting?
– Seq is 720 x 576 CCIR601 / DVPAL (5:4) – AUD Settings: 48khz / 16-BIT / Channel Grouped – Apple Pros Res 422HQ
– Playback is blackmagic pal and blackmagic audioAnd do you have the optional PDBK-S1500 hardware key that’s required for DVCAM and MPEG IMX recording on that deck? NO
If not, what recording format have you chosen? You’ll need to have choosen MPEG HD422: for 8 ch/24 bits/48 kHz audio recording- We actually just changed to that and the 8 channel mixer is displayed
Do you need to record this onto the deck in SD or not? – YES
You note: “Additionally, I changed the sequence so that there are now 4 audio channels and yet its still telling me that it isnt supported and that I need to downmix!?!?!
What is telling you you need to downmix … the deck or FCP? You are “Playing out to XDCAM” as you thread is titled right? Or are you actually exporting to XDCAM using FAM (File Access Mode) ie using FCP’s Export > Sony XDCAM … option (installed as part of Sony XDCAM Transfer / XDB)?
FCP is telling me when I go to print to video as I dont have the Sony XDCAM transfer software…
Even with the 8ch/24bit now selected on the deck, its still telling me that ‘the current audio device does not support the number of outputs’ and that I should downmix all outputs in order to hear them during playback.
*UPDATE*
EVEN THOUGH WE DIDNT HEAR THE AUDIO WHEN PLAYING OUT, UPON INGESTING, ALL THE TRACKS CAME IN ON THE SEPARATE LEVELS….SO THATS US ALMOST THERE!

In the audio on the Sequence, it is at 16BIT but do I have to change that elsewhere in the deck??
Currently the frequency is set to 720/50p, i cant find where I need to change it to IMX…(if i need to at all)…
Additionally, I changed the sequence so that there are now 4 audio channels and yet its still telling me that it isnt supported and that I need to downmix!?!?!

Ok…so that did the job HOWEVER….I have 8 tracks of audio and yet the XDCAM is only set to 4 tracks therefore only taking tracks 1 – 4.
Can I change the settings on the deck to take all 8 tracks???
