Locking a mask
Hello again,
Is there a way of ‘locking’ a mask in place in AE so that you can alter the footage within the mask, i.e. move its position, resize it etc…

I’ll answer your underlying question:
You should use a track matte if you want to move the layer but have the mask stay put.

Yes, played around with adding a new solid and getting the footage to track that in Alpha.
