Quicktime video settings within Sequence settings…
I have a query regarding the QT settings within the seq. settings…
We shot a pilot programme on XDCAM. Originally the seq settings are set to pal 720 x 576 and the QT settings were: uncompressed 8-bit.
What we noticed between the viewer window and the canvas window was a slight degradation in quality of the video. In the viewer it looked as it should have been, crisp and with excellent definition but in the canvas window it looked slightly soft.
All the settings are correct to show the full res so when playing with the qt settings in the sequence settings, I changed them from uncompressed 8-bit to xdcam hd422 1080i50 and sure enough the canvas window started to display the footage as it should be and it matched the viewer window footage.
However, im now having to render alot of shots when I shouldnt normally have to.
Can anyone explain this or whether or not I have done the right thing? We play to xdcam deck but I dont want to loose quality in picture by reverting back to uncompressed 8-bit.
