This is an interesting thread. I have delivered content intended for the web that was mixed at -12dB, as we typically do for broadcast, and received complaints that the web material was too quiet.
Slightly off topic, the same holds true for DVDs. Compare the audio levels of your DVD exported from a -12dB timeline with Hollywood DVD’s and you will see that your audio is not nearly loud enough.
The standard -12dB for broadcast mantra, in my view, does not apply to digital delivery.
Any one else?

Thanks. Of course, I’ve already tired Google.
This is a very specific EFP/ENG lens cap for a SONY D30, not a simple lens cap for my digital still camera.
Anyone else familiar with replacemene lens caps?

this wonderful card will only work with an Intel MAC Pro, so you are “stuck” with the Kona 3x”The Blackmagic HD extreme card works just fine in my G5 quad… just make sure you have the newer PCIe slots in your machiene.

Generally speaking, FCP and AVID bays that only cut DV or HDV are so cheep to set up and run that the rental demand for these suites is very low. Why would I spend $3000 for two weeks in your bay, when that is half the cost of setting up my own.
To be considered as a viable rental facility, I would expect you to have several flavors of HD decks, as well as Digi-Beta, Beta, Broadcast monitors, external waveform, etc…
The DV only edit bay can work as a rental bay, but for a much lower price.

Just a quick fix that came to my mind…
Dupe the layers that cast shaddows, change them to shadow only (in material options?) and add a blur to that “shadow only” layer.
Does that work?

November 2, 2006 at 1:51 am in reply to: External Hard drive Data Recovery Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Every time I have had an external HD fail, it has only been the chassie. You can replace that pretty easily with a small screwdriver. New chassies are availabe at Best Buy. It will require you to break a seal on the existing external dirve that says “Do not break this seal,” but whatever.
If it is the drive, Disk Warrior is generally conisidere the best for Mac. If has always worked for me, and even though it is $80, that is a lot cheaper then your data recovery place.

Its simple.
You are rendering an uncompressed movie out of After Effects – but Avid Express Pro only handels DV quality. So your movie is being compressed 5 times upon import into AVID. (DV25=1/5Unompressed)
To edit uncompressed, you need to upgrade to Adreneline.

I have struggled with this problem for nearly a year, using Red in AVID. But now, with the latest upgrade in RED, Boris has finally issued a solution… (or rather, a workaround)…
Render your effect in green dot mode in Avid, rather than blue dot, and you will get no jump – works for me everytime now. THis also eliminates the slight blurriness that can effect alpha channels comming out of boris.
I dont know about other NLEs, but you might try rendering with external video view set to off, which is the equivilent to green dot in AVID.

When you beta deck is set to manual, then you hit play on the deck, then capture now in FCP, you do not get time code. The deck has to be on remote.
Could that be what you did initially?
