  • Laying off WITH timecode breaks

Posted by Adam Duplay on January 26, 2009 at 7:59 pm

We have a bunch of tapes shot with time of day timecode that I have captured to cut a show.

Now we are looking to duplicate the field tapes as part of the contract with our client. Is there a way to put everything that I have already digitized back onto tape in a way that preserves the original time of day timecode, timecode breaks and all?

In a typical layoff to tape the timecode would be continuous and match the timeline settings.

    Thanks,
    Adam

No…you cannot do this within FCP. It will output timeline timecode only. Do to this you will need to do a deck to deck dub with TC.

What format and how did you capture it? If it’s SD and you captured PRO Res then VITC might still be used.
