I’m not a huge fan of losing the source option in the timeline, but I am making do. However – once adjusting RED raw data in the master effects window I am unable to save to RMD or for that matter load from RMD. Clicking on those options do not open a dialogue box. That is kind of a huge issue.

Just got my UltraStudio and having a similar problem. I’m trying to connect HDMI feed through UltraStudio. Tried capturing from RED Scarlet camera’s HDMI output as well as a BlackBerry Playbook output and while the UltraStudio is recognized it still shows up that there is no capture device. Tried FCP, Premiere, and Media Express. Also checked the HDMI feed directly out of the devices into a TV and it works fine.
Seems like capture should be pretty straight forward, but it just doesn’t seem to work…. -
i understand ntsc standards and i understand 59.97 for 60i, 29.97 for 30 for broadcast purposes. But it isn’t true 30fps then. If I am compositing or doing a 3d build I have a choice of working at 30fps or 29.97 and there is quite a difference when it comes down to synching something if the shot is lengthy. If I work with a film plate 24fps is true 24 not 23.976. Anyway I guess I’m wondering if there just isn’t a true 30fps on this camera or if this was a camera error or import error.

Sorry, I don’t have an answer, but I have a similar problem with AE 6.5 – same quad, same amount of ram etc. I have the aja lhe on this system and was attributing the freeze to a possible conflict with that, but perhaps it’s more quad related…. I know there are often GL issues with AE and various graphic cards – I’ve got the NVIDIA GeForce 7800GT, not sure if that may play into it as well.
Anyone else have AE hang upon closing? -
that is painfully slow and definitely sounds like you’re getting usb 1 functionality at the most.
There has been some reports about the speed difference with both usb and firewire between macs and pc’s. PC’s achieve faster transfer rates – no idea why. Also The firewire 800 limitation on the G5’s being the worst offender (G4’s actually get faster transfer rates.)
anyway A good resource for speed tests etc. for ports and HD’s is

a great plug in for morphs is re:flex morph. It’s pretty straight forward to use and has great result.

5.04 with automatic duck installed. I have tried every setting in media manager and other than making the files offline nothing changes. The problem is that they reference several larger master clips that are 10 bit uncompressed quicktimes (no TC), but shouldn’t media manager be able to reduce to only what I’m using in the timeline. I even made a test sample sequence with 4 clips reference 1 master clip (which was 50gigs) and any options in media manager outputted a 50 gig file.
This can’t possible be right.
All material is on a 250 gig lacie firewiredrive btw.
thanks, -
I’m having the same or similar issues. I have a project with a large amount of video on one master clip and no matter what I set my settings to in media manager it states that my final media usage will be 108 gigs for a 4 minute edit. this can’t be right, but no matter what option I check it doesn’t affect the amount of data.
I’ve never had this issue before, but until recently I have always used version 4.
anyone? anyone? bueller? -
I’m having a similar problem. the wiggler is just not working on spatial data. Tried it on null objects, different layers, even updated to 6.5.1, but doesn’t work. the weird thing is it has worked a couple of times and then just won’t. So I’ve ended up cutting and pasting the data to different layers, but this obviously isn’t a solution.
The only thing I’ve updated recently (prior to trying the ae fix) was QT 7.anyone else having issues?
