I am in the same boat here with a file that NEED to save. It was recorded with an zoom H4N but the battery died in the middle and now the file is “invalid”. It’s 16-bit .wav. I have tried the VLC, audacity, and adobe audition solutions.

Below is a download link for the the hex code and VLC error reports. Could someone please take a quick look and let me know if there is anything that I can do.

Thanks all around. I downloaded the toolkit, the functionality looks great and is exactly what I am looking for. Far superior to the letterbox filter that is included.

The workaround is also great for potential projects with strangely oriented screens.

yeah that make plural eyes for X; it does a much better job syncing but obviously creates some issues. I imagine all the issues will be fixed in future updates though.

I have the same workflow as you but for some reason things get lost by FCPX. What do you use to backup/archive? I use chronosync.

And for the love of god why doesn’t apple add “watch” capabilities to folders. This would probably fix all my issues as I would just be dropping new files and folders in the finder.

I am working with DSLR footage H264 1080 so there shouldn’t be a compatibility issue.

I basically meant that I could keep my source files on one drive and then import (and copy source files).

For one job I had multiple events (plural eyes creates a new event when syncing), I then dragged one event onto the other (and selected to merge the events)…all of my source files disappeared. I assumed that it was because they lived in a folder called MEDIA (which is not automatically created by FCPX) within the event folder (within the final cut events root folder).

When I tried to relink the files some worked and some didn’t (I got the error message concerning audio). I had to then reimport those and essentially reedit portions of the timeline.

When I get some time I plan to do trouble shooting to find out what final cut does in these types of situations. Where do you guys keep that source media? Do you keep it in the original media folder that is created by FCPX or do you create your own?

that is disheartening since i edit from my RAID array, did you then reformat your working drive?

I tried all of those things and they didn’t work. I think there is something wrong with the motherboard though, either way, im screwed

well, because I have no patience to wait for educated advice I went ahead searching for terminal posts about deleting plist from terminal. The terminal command basically got rid of all my .plist files (as well as documents, downloads etc). Unfortunately I no longer have the link ie this is not very helpful (; but the one take away is be careful when deleting things in the terminal, especially when basically deleting by name match (which is what I did…ouch)

Excellent. My normal process was to export master and then drag into compressor (same thing but two part process, also involved me waiting around the computer). Great insight that I will certainly use, thanks
