I have a computer with the following specs and the playback of AVCHD is choppy. If this computer can’t stream AVCHD in CS4 then I’m not sure what will. I am a PC and adobe user but am thinking of switching to a macbook pro and final cut; this is extremely frustrating.

    # Intel Core2 Extreme Processor QX9650 (3.00 GHz Overclocked to 3.67Hz) w/QuadCore Technology and 12 MB cache
    # 4 GB DDR SDRAM at 1067MHz
    # Blu-Ray Drive & 16x DVD+/-RW Drive
    # DUAL CARDS: Dual 1024MB Radeon ATI HD 3870X2 video cards
    # X-Fi PCI Sound Card
    # SATA 2 RAID 1 with Dual 1TB Hard Drives
    # Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit
    # CPU liquid/TEC Cooling-ATX

Thanks, that site is going to come in very helpful. I can’t seem to find any information on how to pan though; any ideas? Thanks again.

Is there anyway to set the length of a picture or video clip to a certain time length (seconds). I am putting pic and videos to a beat and if if every clip I drag to the timeline is the same length it would really help me out. Thanks

June 11, 2008 at 9:01 pm in reply to: Problems with Sony Vegas Pro 8…Help!

I have a Dell XPS 720 H2C with intel core duo 6850 processor (3.00 GHZ overclocked to 3.67 GHZ), 4 GB of RAM, dual nvidia 8800 ultra cards, running vista 32-bit.

I bought this beast so that I could edit and render HD video (sony vegas pro 8.0b) with no issues…I am having major issues. When editing, the video doesn’t stream but skips, slows, hesitates etc.

I have ended a lot of useless processes, checked memory, spyware, virus scan etc. I guess I am going to try and do a clean install, if this doesnt work, I guess there is something wrong with the hardware (but dell knows nothing about their computers so I’m not too optimistic that they will be able to help). This is incredibly frustrating, does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong?

    Thanks a lot.

please explain the benefits of converting AVCHD to M2T. Can’t sony V8 edit AVCHD and then render it into a number of different regularly playable formats? I’m asking because my AVCHD footage stalls and lags behind my audio when I am editing, is this something that could fix that issue?

I have a super fast computer (Dell XPS 720 H2C, overclocked to 3.66 GHZ, 4 GB memory) with top of the line video cards (dual nvidia 8800 ultras) and am having the same issues.

I am unable to “preview” (stream) the material that I am working in as the video lags behind the audio (slows/skips).

I thought the issue was with the computer, dell told me to reinstall the software.

I have 2 TB of space so save all my HD content on the computer. I am working with stills and audio all saved on the computers HD (could something be wrong with the HD?)

I read the posts above but am not really sure where to start since I seem to have the hardware and drive capabilities.

    Any thoughts? Thanks a lot!
