I know I’m a little late with this, but I just read your post.

I seem to recall that the solution to this problem is as follows:

    – Move your audio media to your internal drive
    – Delete the audio media from the original drive it was on
    – relink and try the export again

It’s a little messy at first, but if you set up your media destinations that way for each project after that, you shouldn’t see the problem again.

Honestly, because of the weak dollar and it’s reasonable price, my understanding is that M100 has sold a lot of systems in the PAL part of the world. Thus, I would think that they just couldn’t get away with ignoring it.

I’m sure if Floh was having trouble with PAL on M100, we’d hear about it.

Ensure that the Red plugin is in Applications>Media 100>Graphics (for Comp clips, the plugin is in Media 100>Filters).

Then, to force the issue, pull the Grafitti plugin out (put it somewhere you can find it again, like on the Desktop).

Now see what happens when you create a title and try to edit it.

Also, what hardware are you using? Or are you using Producer? I don’t quite understand it all, but I know that the plugins are registered differently depending upon the model of Media 100 you’re using.

  • Check out this Knowledge Base Document from M100’s Support site:

    https://support.media100.com/kbsearch/kbDocument.aspx?id=299

While it was all written specifically for Compressor and DVDSP, I have found that it applies to other apps as well.

The part that I think might be most relevant to your question is at the bottom under “Additional Notes and Tips”:

“As of this writing, there is an issue where Chapter Marks from the program will not appear in Compressor if you have not set a Chapter Mark on the first frame of the program in Media 100 i. Typically the start of the program will get a chapter mark, and as long as this is the case, your Chapter Marks should be accurate on your DVD.”

You should also take note of the section at the top about creating Compression Marks to go along with each Chapter Mark.

Yeah, what he said. Test the theory by moving just a couple of files to your MacHD and see if they work from there.

    Is there an error message?
Is it crashing during the audio portion of the export?
If so, does video only work?

  • Well, I guess someone had to say it.

John, thank you for running point. I, for one, will have your back when the sh*t storm happens later today (it’s still not even 8:30 am in San Francisco).

Jim, don’t take the fact that your outbursts often go unchallenged as evidence that we agree with and support you. It’s much more like, “If we ignore him, maybe he’ll go away.”

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve written a response to you just like John’s only to delete it without posting because I just didn’t have the energy or the time to get into it with you.

    Jim, seriously…enough.

SoftHarbor poses and interesting theory. You could check the frame size of the footage in QTPro’s Get Info window before and after bringing it into M100 to see if he’s onto something.

  • Greg,

Here are a couple of more complicated ideas spawned by Arthur’s suggestion.

1 – Try creating a black image in PhotoShop and importing that in. Maybe there’s something wonky about M100’s “synthetic” black.
2 – Try shooting some video with the lens cap on and acquiring that.

  • OK, let’s try to get a hold of this one…

First off, has this been working all along and suddenly went south today? If so, what did you do?

You originally (in an earlier thread) thought that it was because of QT 7.1.5. Did you update to OS 10.4.9 at the same time? What about this new system install?

What version of Producer? 11.5 or 11.5.1?

What version of AE are you using?

    What Mac are you using?

What happened to the saturation complaint? Still happening?

Finally, you wrote “all my exports into After Effects now have lines in them”.
A: do you mean “in” After Effects you see the lines or after exporting “from” After Effects, or both.
    and
2: Could you be more descriptive about the lines. I’m kind of a visual person 😉

You’re right, if you didn’t change something and this problem has been here all along, you CANNOT be the only one seeing this.
