Personally I find both formats to be great for archiving.

If Kona can handle HD via firewire,You can master back to HVX200 onto P2…
but if You buy optional P2 drive and just save it to P2 drive…it is faster.

That is correct, especially if they know Infinity is comming soon.
In this case we should expect Varicam and Pana400 to be on P2 soon if they want to compete with Infinity.

Make sure,You will bring one extra suitcase of Betacam tapes for Your
    Travel shoot.
If You want quality and 1080i(and weight) then HDCAM is the way to go.
But how about SD DVCPRO 50 gear???
Camera like Pana700 would be just great.
If mobility, weight and value for money picture is important, then You can not go wrong with Pana200.

[matthew Romanis] “It’s going to be good to eventually see one of the six engineering models doing the world tour appear down here. I simply couldn’t justify a $2500.00 (AUD) airfare to go and sample it at IBC.”

Mabe You could have spent AUS$220 for airfare to Sydney during SMPTE2005.

  • [jo] “For me it is a very Point in my decision purchasing the HVX and be dependend on manufacturers goot will in media price or purchasing the Canon H1, which uses cheap DV tapes.”

HVX 200 is not HDV format.
    It is HD,true HD.
It will be the cheapest HD camera on market.
The cheapest HD camera at the moment costs $40,000…so HVX-200 is meant for productions with BUDGETS.
