The simple truth is,Panasonic have not got decent megapixel block like Thomson or even Sony.
There is a “bit” of difference between 2,2 & 27 mil..pixel.
1 mil.. in 2005 is a bit low.
By the way,is Varicam 10 bit or 12 bit head??

Let’s just say that for a X amount you will never need to purchase acquisition tapes again, for as long as you own the camera. (Unless you decided to use the mini-DV tape drive)

Same is regarding my DVCPRO50 and 25 tapes,they have been recycled at least 15 times.They are about US$15 per hour of DVCPRO storage.

how many minutes can one record(maximum) on P2 memory using true HD recording and DVCPRO50 recording???
Does this camera have true manual lens control??(like JVC-100)
And one more important question:Does is(or will)it use MEGAPIXEL block??
If so,which one(CEMOS)???

I am familiar with DVCPRO 50 cameras and format.
I own Thomson and Pana910.
I would not buy any DV,DVCAM or DVCPRO 25,50 today.
Why??
Because it will be replaced by some form of HDV within 2 years.

Who will bother with DVCPRO 50 and DVCAM next year.
How many minutes can one record of “true HD” on 2 P2 sticks?(with plastic lens and 1/3″block)??
Pana Camera is an additional gear for big brother Varicam.
It is not practical gear for Weddings,Corporates etc….

Hi,
Whatever You do DO NOT buy 4:3 camera like DSR-400,buy DSR-450ws instead.
(if DVCAM is what you require).
I I were You,I would wait a while,my feeling is,Sony will bring camera like
DSR-450 with HDV back very soon.
Next year format like HDV will really become popular,so I would not personally buy any SD camera.
If You work freelance for others,wait another 2-4 months…SMPTE is just around corner.
I am sure cameras like JVC-100 will become very popular.
I would not consider upcomming Panasonic 200 with P2 mainly because of camera’s lens.I never liked lenses on cameras like PD-170,Z-1,DVX-100 and xl-1,2……….JVC HD100 is the first decent small video camera,nicelly ballanced with Anton Bauer Battaries.

Mate,You can talk about it with other cameramen who will understand You 100%.
Unfortunatly there is plenty of users who have never operated decent video camera with decent optics.I am behind You 100%.

Why we need a decent lens??
Because one needs to control it Mr.Nattress.
Fujinon on JVC has got decent manual controls.Panasonic Leica does not have it.
