This is how I’ve done this effect before…
I’ve taken the text and put it on a tight and fast, up and down movement on a set path.
Make the movements short and it can appear as though it’s vibrating up and down. The wiggler will give you that look just fine. Then there are two ways of going at this from that point:
1. Sapphire Random_Edits plugin on a new comp layer of that previous animation
– or –
2. You do the “random edits” yourself in your NLE, re-export your randomized movement edit, and go from there.
For that “Se7en” look, I’ve have added some transparancy, b/w scan line filters, noise, and grain. Fox uses this alot in their “scary” drama show promos like Prison Break, House, and Bones. Check those out for reference in how you can make it unique or updated. Handwritten looking fonts complete the Se7en look.

Steve, I’ll save you the shameless self promotion.

That’s a good jumping point for web-based learning.
I went the way of actually doing projects on it, and relying on training stuff to fill in the gaps. Doing paid work forces you to learn stuff like you wouldn’t believe. -
The RTx100 has a built in timecode plugin with the newest drivers.

If you want to be able to use your exsisting hardware (cost effective, eh?) I heartily recommend the Asus P4P800 SE or the P4C800 boards.
They’re both easy to work with and quite reliable.
If you do want the serious upgrade, I side with Andre. The Dual core’s would be nice for using with After Effects and would be really nice for rendering unsupported effects on the timeline in premiere.

Andre’s right, you’re outta luck with that motherboard, this’ll happen constantly.
Here’s some reference to help you to pick a new board.
This is a list of approved chipsets, you’ll see the PT800 listed on there as NOT recommended.
https://www.matrox.com/video/support/rtx100xtremepro/rec/chipsets.cfmHere’s a recommended list of boards that do work, most of which are available for a decent price.
https://www.matrox.com/video/support/rtx100xtremepro/rec/mb/home.cfmAt this point, that board needs to be changed before you can call on anything else as a problem.

Artis,
Lemme have a go at this.
I need the following information:
What motherboard are you using?
What version of PPro is this? 1.0 or 1.5?What order are you installing the Matrox and Premiere in?
I’m busy with a client for most of wednesday, but if you can put up with me, I can probably pull you through this. There are others on this board that could help you with this as well if they have this information too, so feel free to jump in…

I don’t quite understand the bottleneck theory either.
I have to be able to promise certain levels of ability in the systems I build and the Axio is showing strong numbers on throughput on benchmarks, and crashes are pretty slim on occuring for me.
Same thing with Video Toasters. Those need a lot of hard drive capability, and they run pretty much off the processors. Again, I don’t see “bottlenecks” as an issue when your system has been put together in the correct manner.
As for the Axio not being able to output, until I try it in person, I don’t know for sure. If it has the hardware to be able to bring the MPEG2 in, in realtime, I don’t know why it couldn’t output it as well.
We’re talking about a system that can capture and output MPEG-2 IFrame in HD resolution at realtime as well.
At the very least, I would expect it to accelerate the output. Again this is going to be running on the hardware supported codec, and not a cineform situation like what we have currently.

Yes, there’s an Axio VFW codec installer for the Axio install DVD.
After that Axio footage will run on other systems. The only caveat about this is you DO NOT want to install this on an exsisting Matrox system. If you do it will ruin your exsisting Matrox system, and you’ll need to reinstall it.
