Currently, I can export my Matrox DigiSuite files from discreet edit* to another computer running After Effects, using Matrox’s software only codec.

Would I be able to digitize files on the Axio, and run them over for After Effects work into another box which does not have Axio installed — and round-trip back into the Axio/Premiere Pro box?

Yes, there’s an Axio VFW codec installer for the Axio install DVD.

After that Axio footage will run on other systems. The only caveat about this is you DO NOT want to install this on an exsisting Matrox system. If you do it will ruin your exsisting Matrox system, and you’ll need to reinstall it.

Yes, we found this out the hard way. We were hoping to keep one of our DS boards running as a framebuffer for Combustion/Max on our graphics machine. We installed the Axio SW codecs and the machine quit. It’s to bad that matrox can’t fix this problem! We had to buy a decklink card in order to get framebuffer for Comb/Max. I would have paid Matrox for the SW codecs if they kept my DS board working.
