Matrox RTX 100 capture problem
Posted by Art White on October 4, 2005 at 3:02 amI’m still having problems with capturing. (I’ve tried every suggestion from this post but keep posting!) I upgraded Premiere Pro for the RTX 100 by adding the new tools fix. It loaded fine. During capture, the DV will run for 10 seconds then shut down and restart the computer. I have 3 empty drives so storage shouldn’t be a problem. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. I don’t think that’s the problem. Computer Pentium 4 2.54 Ghz 2 G ram runs fine with other software.
I’m still in it for the long haul. Any other suggestions? Fixes? Patches?
Thank you

Sounds like an over heating problem or a driver conflict. Does this problem occur often while using other applications as well?

October 4, 2005 at 2:36 pmI had exactly the same problem with the same hardware and Premier Pro. The solution in my case was to disable Norton Antivirus whenever editing. It’s worked without issue ever since. It seemed that disabling realtime scanning made no difference.

October 4, 2005 at 4:56 pmThere are 4 fans that run constant. After Effects, Photoshop, Encore, Audition, Multicam, Ultra 2 all work fine. Pro loaded fine but won’t run. It makes me think I need a driver or some kind of fix. I have only loaded the new Matrox tools for Pro. I have not added anything else.

October 4, 2005 at 5:01 pmIt is a stand alone computer not connected to the internet or any infrastructure. I don’t have any virus protection on it. (Probably should get it anyway!) Seems odd it will capture for a few seconds then reboot. It doesn’t save to any hardrive. Doesn’t give me any errors.
Thanks for your comments. Please keep them comming.

You cannot use any version of the XTools drivers with any version of Premiere.
The obligatory pairings are:
Premiere 6.5 –> Xtools 4263
Premiere 1.0 –> Xtools 5078
Premiere 1.5 –> Xtools 6122See this Matrox link:

Lemme have a go at this.
I need the following information:
What motherboard are you using?
What version of PPro is this? 1.0 or 1.5?What order are you installing the Matrox and Premiere in?
I’m busy with a client for most of wednesday, but if you can put up with me, I can probably pull you through this. There are others on this board that could help you with this as well if they have this information too, so feel free to jump in…

It is an ABIT VT7 VIA PT880 chipset Pentium 2.54 GHz 2 GB ram My main drive is a Maxtor 6Y120p0 I have 3 other (Empty for storage) WDCWD 1200JB with the Matrox RT.X100 ATI Radeon 9700 video card. No other applications have problems. I just learned tonight that it does not matter if I use the Matrox RT. 100 capture or firewire. It still will only capture a few seconds then reboot. It does save a quick partial file to one of the drives every time. I have PPro one. I installed PPro, installed the card, recognized it, disregarded Windows hardware installation, installed downloaded zip tools then opened PPro. Makes me think it is not a software problem. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. 6.5 does the same thing with the RT 100 and the original tools. Thanks for your time

Look at the last table in this Matrox System Recommendation link:

October 5, 2005 at 11:31 amAndre’s right, you’re outta luck with that motherboard, this’ll happen constantly.
Here’s some reference to help you to pick a new board.
This is a list of approved chipsets, you’ll see the PT800 listed on there as NOT recommended.
https://www.matrox.com/video/support/rtx100xtremepro/rec/chipsets.cfmHere’s a recommended list of boards that do work, most of which are available for a decent price.
https://www.matrox.com/video/support/rtx100xtremepro/rec/mb/home.cfmAt this point, that board needs to be changed before you can call on anything else as a problem.
