  • Black Magic’s Decklink comes with a live key tool that seemed like it would work great for bug placement…..I think that the workflow was fairly similar to what was suggested earlier in this thread about taking a page from the old school…if you take a signal into the card, and use the tool to overlay a graphic ontop of the signal live and take the output live to a tape making the decklink like a switcher with a key….

I’m not too sure about this, but when I glanced at this tool when I first installed my decklink that’s the first application I thought of for that program….FCP is great, but if you have to deal with layering multiple graphics over an entire show, do it the old school way.

try dv garage’s dvmatte pro for after effects… Its meant for keying dv footage although it will key just about anything you give it. It saved me in a situation that I couldn’t get to key even with the master keyer in discreet’s smoke system… I know you can’t buy any software but it worked great for me and it sounds like you are in a similar situation that I was in.

I’ve had that problem when my drives are full and such (I know that you have said you have adequate *fast* storage). But the delay is most likely coming from the “allocating disk space” phase of the capture now. Make sure that in the energy saver panel you have “put disks to sleep” disabled. There is also an update that will change something with the way the xraid deals with flushing its cache that might affect the problem.

As a test, see if it IS your storage and try capturing low data rate footage to the internal drive or some other disk. If you still the get delay, then I would blame your aja unit and start going down that path with the aja forum….

    dunno if that helps

I had an aluminum powerbook on me not want to connect to my XL-1 (the original model) all of the sudden in 4.5/10.3.9. If its a bug in the software, then sue’s issue might be related to mine. I tried it on a tibook with the same versions of the same stuff and it worked fine. That really boggled me. There is something strange going on with the capture window in 4.5/10.3.9 I just don’t know exactly what….

  • I have the same error on a clean install of Final Cut Studio on a clean install of tiger. It’s a dual 2.5 G5 with 4GB of ram. Any fixes? I dealt with this issue with the old compressor and that fix is all over the web, but I haven’t seen anything addressing this issue in the new releases of the OS and FCP. thanks!
