Sounds like some corruption…. 14gig is not that big (we shuffle around stuff like that all the time in HD).

So you’ve tried from in FCP to do an In/Out and export “self-Contained.” ??? Or are you copying from the Finder? Does it always seem to lock up in the same place?

Upgade to 5.1. I just saw you’re on 5.0.4….. we haven’t had any save problems whatsoever with 5.1. Project files getting near 200MB (takes a coon’s age to load, though)

the iMac will suit your needs just fine. pick up an extra firewire drive for storage.

One of our editors swore that it kept happening to him while working on a large project… I could never recreate it…. but i guess there could be intermittent problems?

    That’s a little high… but not much. 10bit rendering @ Normal motion filtering w/ 2 color correctors4 (one with a limit)…. I’m getting about 19-1 ratio with a dual 2.5ghz machine. HD is a bear – especially at 10bit…..

Here’s a quick trick – set the sequence to 8bit, set it to force render at 8 bit YUV, and you can ballpark everything in much quicker, and then make slight adjustments to full 10bit later including an overnight render. This works fine with 10 bit media.

I don’t even remember where I read it…. but something in the DSR-1500 literature definately said “do not plug/unplug from the iLink interface while unit is powered on”. So hopefully it didn’t ruin things with the DSR-11!

I would run down to Best Buy (or whatever) and get yourself a PCI Firewire card. They’re really cheap. If your FW has gone bad – you’re just chasing your tail trying to get things to work, re-installing, etc… Besides then you’ll have those extra ports – because you know you can’t use the Io with any other FW device plugged into the internal bus.

…and wait. You say DSR-11 and then DVCPRO50. The DSR-11 is DV25 only. DV50 is a purely Panasonic thing.

    1) did you power down the ENTIRE system? (including pulling the cord so that the PMU resets)
    2) can you get the Io to work again?
    3) I know with our DSR-1500 there’s a blurb somewhere that if you connected it to a FW bus while everything was powered on, there was a chance of frying the bus.
    4) I don’t imagine you have a PCI firewire card in your system… because then you could connect to that and see if your internal bus was shot.
