Also keep in mind… AES is a digital stream… it has the same XLR connectors as professional analog audio. So you’re going to need something to turn that AES into analog audio BEFORE feeding a mixer. A lot of people using the Flying Cow from M-Audio…

Hm… and obviously you were feeding audio from the set directly to the DV50 tape??? Is it in sync on the tape? This is NTSC?
Try doing this on a clip you already have… unlink the audio and set it’s speed to 99.92%

Describe in more detail what you mean “all the footage by running on capture card”…
Did you capture via Firewire? SDI?
Is your audio in Sync at the head of a clip and out by the end?
You shouldn’t have any problems with this camera, DV50, and audio drift. I think there’s something in your editor’s workflow that isn’t quite right.

Sure, lemme know how it looks on your end…. while it looks fairly accurate with all sorts of images, SMPTE bars don’t feel good to me.

Bob you’re just getting crazy…. If all my decks were in the room with me I’d patch them in, but we have a machine room, and it’s just silly running 16 audio patches to the rooms for VHS 🙂
But you’re right…I patch in my confidence heads to the room for layoffs… I have laid off an hour long show withouth audio going down… we all learn lessons the hard way.

We went through this too (but with a HD BVM monitor with SDI)…. first you need to make absolutely sure your SD monitor is calibrated. Color temperature probed and everything…. then get a bunch of images together to cycle though and essentially hand-calibrate the HDlink with those RGB tables (a pain).
In the end my settings came out with the Cinema Display at it’s LOWEST brightness setting. It takes a while for the backlight to get to full luminance BTW… end of day the 23″ looks really close to the BVM, but you probably know, not to be completely trusted…

Hrm…. try going into display prefs and jostle the arrangement around. I remember this happened once with my Illustrator drop downs… and forgot how it got solved.

Two 30″ screens would probably make you go nearsighted in… about 10 minutes.
