You sound like you’re in a little deeper than you realize. Time to call a meeting of the producer, post-supervisor, CG and FX guys, transfer house, online/finishing house, 35mm print lab and figure out $$ vs. Quality vs. Time. Going for a full theatrical print with effects is a complicated process that can get really nasty if you don’t lay the groundwork 1st. Nothing worse than eye matching every cut in a feature.
You WON’T want to blow-up anything from NTSC to 35mm – It’ll look pretty rough… Cheapest decent solution is to finish in 1080 and laser scan that back to 35. But you need to get the EFX guys everything in 1080 to begin with, so that they don’t have to re-render, don’t have to pull new keys, etc….
