There was a post on Engadget last week or so…. some guy had a couple “prototype” quad cores, and socketed them into his mac pro. 10.4.7 booted right up and recognized all 8 cores… Take it with a grain of salt, but it seemed legit.

well i think you’re looking for a solution that does exist.

well, you could go into Final Cut and use the mixer tool… use the master mix to control it…

you should also check your about mac -> more info and see if the computer sees a card in the slot.

Try reseating your card. or moving it to another PCI slot. Sounds like you’re losing the card after power down and power up…. could be a little unsettled in the slot and the heat-up cool-off is shifting a contact.
Your setup should work. 5.1.1 and the 5.6.2 drivers are working perfectly fine here.

This seems to be happening a lot lately to people….
The ouput on the Kona, or any other digital video board for that matter, is inteded to feed into a mixer, deck, or audio workstation *NEVER* directly into your speakers (you risk overloading the amp and ruining the speakers) It’s a strong signal that’s output to overcome transmission and noise floor problems in a professional audio setup. A mixer let’s you split that signal specifically to your speakers so that 1) it’s at a comforatable listeneing level and 2) you have a convienant volume control right at your fingertips.
