First HD project – Need lots of help
Doing an HD project for the first time and need help with settings.
First, my setup – G5 Quad with multibridge extreme, monitoring on Aquos LCD via HDMI.
The tapes they are shooting on are DVCPro50.
I was told to set my sequence up at 1080i @ 59.94. I see those settings but I also see ones that say ‘DVC PRO 1080i 60’ and then ones that say ‘8 Bit’ (i’m using the 8 bit right now).
What are the differences – is one more compressed than the other?
Also, and even more importantly, I’m having trouble monitoring. What do my settings need to be in Blackmagic System preferences to view on the monitor?

DVCPRO-50 is NTSC or PAL. Not HD.

You need to configure your porject using our easy setups. Make sure your View > Video Display option matches the timeline. DVCPRO HD clips will use the 8-bit video display options.

Yes the settings will affect your monitoring. They will turn on down conversion which means you’ll be monitoring in SD instead of HD.
