    I guess that’s what I thought. Thanks.

I’ve got a project that’s 1.7 TB that I was hoping to keep to one tape, but I’ll just span it across two.

  • Quicktime is up-to-date (as far as I know, QT X 10.3 is Mavericks-only).

Thanks! Forgot about the Utilities tab. All set.

  • Tom,

Sorry again for taking so long to reply. The problem corrected itself once the VTAPE was erased.

This issue caused unbelievable render issues for me for the better part of 4 years. I had a big stack of text and graphics with a .png on top, and I’d always get the infamous ‘out of memory’ error when rendering. It got to the point where I’d render, let it go for 2 or 3%, cancel and save. I was pretty much frankensteining my render files. I’d repeat this until FCP wouldn’t render any more, then I’d have to quit and relaunch, and try again.

I changed the alpha of the .png to straight, and the entire thing renders flawlessley. THANK YOU!!!

Tom, I figured out what the problem was. I generated a transfer log, and saw that I was getting a ‘no such directory’ error. I took a look at each of the directories I was having trouble with, and EACH of them contained the character “+” in the name. Removed it, and I’m good to go. Thanks.

You’re right, Tom. My initial attempts to archive directly from my RAID were not working, so I moved the folders in question to the Cache-A Share via Finder, in the hopes that it would give me different results, but I’m still not able to archive them.

I reset the Tape Manager, and gave it another go (trying to archive from Cache-A Share), but ‘one file/directories pending’ disappears from the File manager’s ‘Transfer Summary’ and ‘Tape Status’ has been showing ‘pending’ for about 20 minutes.

Was able to do a quick log-in via Terminal on my Mac, and did a ls -la on Media/VTAPE. Attached a screen shot.
