Premiere Pro doesn’t work well on a network. Does the above error message go away when you open the project on a local drive?

I have used both types of drives. Since my main edit system is a laptop, I use fast external drives without any issues at all.

I hear ya! Although, I haven’t done anything close to 30,000 clips, I have indeed worked with over 600 hours of footage and to put it simply: it was a pain!
Please, send your requests to premierewishlist@adobe.com. The Adobe team DOES read any and all emails to that account. So, if you feel that something needs to be brought up, make many people send it 😉

A few things:
a) Project settings?
b) Are your hard-drives fomatted as NTFS?
c) Try a lower bit-rate to see if that helps.– Aanarav

Your hard-drive won’t die, unless it’s a really old or slow hard-drive 😉
On the other hand, 2 pass encoding should help. Will it be noticable? Most likely not.

I know in AVID I could export from the program to Squeeze. I”Avid ships with Sorenson and hence the level of integration. I know a lot of Premiere folks that use Sorenson, so please contact Sorenson for a possible addition to their feature list.

Yep. Use the selection tool, drag the lasso around the clips as required.

Use the Move tool (keyboard shortcut: M). Select the ‘M’ tool, hold down ‘Shift’. Place your mouse cursor on the left hand side of the clips that you want included and push to the right.

1. Import all your pictures at 150 frames (which is the default)
2. Create a new sequence.
3. In the new sequence, import the sequence that contains your images. (step # 1)
4. Right click on the sequence that you imported > Speed/Motion
5. Speed it up to as long as you want.– Aanarav
