Yes, ScLive will capture the third and fourth channels.
Apart from that, it is a great capturing utility. It can easily capture from various sources too!

I know that there is a Microsoft support document that discusses the firewire problems with SP2. But, since the original poster can capture with other applications, there is something strage going on.From personal experience, when I installed SP2 over my current functional Windows XP installation, it “broke” quite a few components. After ordering a CD from Microsoft and slipstreaming SP2 with my original XP Pro disc, I have never had a problem.
And yes, the disc is free of cost from Microsoft, but it takes a while to get it. If anyone wants the disc (I only have 1), please send me an email with your postal address. May fix quite a few problems. [PS: Microsoft encourages you to “share” the disc]

Ain’t that always the case 🙂 But, yes it all depends on the system configuration/componenets and a person’s knowledge of using these products…
Just out of curiosity, is anyone using a 5400 rpm or a 4200rpm laptop drive? I had a 5400rpm drive just a few weeks ago and decided to upgrade to the 7200 rpm drive and didn’t really see a big difference.

I will have to disagree. Premiere Pro and many other editing applications quite well. Some of us on the board, my self included use a laptop extensively for editing. Infact, it is my primary editing machine, since I travel quite a bit. Also, most newer laptops, especially those built with the newer PM chips and the P4 chips are as good as desktops (except the dual-cores)

The samples should be on the Audition CD itself. I don’t have the discs with me at the moment, but if you look a little carefully, they should be there.

A couple of things you can try:
1. Download a program called ScLive and see if you capture using that [the trial version leaves a water mark on the image]
2. If that works fine, then reinstall Premiere Pro.
3. If that DOES not work, then a) try another tape b) try another deck c) replace the firewire cable.Aanarav Sareen

As I said eariler in my post, I have not had any problem with Quicktime Pro 7.03 and I have using it since it was released as a beta. Could you provide us with more details? Any system software running in the background? Other applications?

Hmm….SP2 makes me wonder if that is the problem. A while ago, there were quite a few posts regarding this. But, I am not sure.
Anyway, can you uninstall PPRO from your system, reinstall it and see what happens?
