capture problem
The Setup: Top of the Line PC (last year); Canopus DV Storm Bay; JVC camcorder for deck.
The Problem: The deck and my external monitor will playback clips and timeline just fine. When I try to capture, the monitor is black, the capture window is gray and, even though keystrokes will initialize playback on the deck (Therefore, I know that the deck and the computer are communicating), there is no timecode and when I try the “Capture Tape” feature, the clip I end up with is simply black.
I’m not terribly savvy when it comes to computers but I know most of the basic terms and lingo of PCs and Editing. (go easy).

A couple of things you can try:
1. Download a program called ScLive and see if you capture using that [the trial version leaves a water mark on the image]
2. If that works fine, then reinstall Premiere Pro.
3. If that DOES not work, then a) try another tape b) try another deck c) replace the firewire cable.Aanarav Sareen

I have the same problem
reinsall did not help,
strange is that record to tape worksthe capture works with other applications like sony vegas
