Thomas, I don’t edit on FCP but can’t you just play the video into your system via either firewire or SDI direct from the camera? Just treat it as tape like in the old days!

Field order, yes I agree Rafael, otherwise you can’t view it properly but I was taking issue over Cade’s statement that “content is over rated”. How can it be? Content is all surely?

Rafael, I don’t mean why did you use color (the software application) but why didn’t you want the film to be in colour as opposed to B & W? It looked lovely anyway as wrote in my post.

Rafael I too enjoyed watching your excerpt, it looked fabulous. BUT, would it not have looked even better in colour? The lovely misty backgrounds just cried out for colour and, wonderful though your B & W is, why did you choose that? Having said that I loved it. Just when I was wondering whether you encountered any resentment we saw one guy put his hand toward the camera and a girl washing turned round suddenly on a warning. Great stuff.

I have shot interlaced 1920 X 1080i on the EX 1 doing a ‘making of’ documentary whilst the feature itself was shot progressive on an EX 3 (with ‘movie tube’). I saw both films at a cinema showing and could see no difference whatsoever. I think people make too much of codecs and formats: it’s what’s in front of the camera that counts together with how well it’s shot and edited.

Paul, I just checked, I certainly have version 2.11.0 of the XDCAM Transfer on my MacPro with Media 100 Suite 1.5. I didn’t install it myself, when I upgraded last week my suppliers, New Media Research of London did that with all the other software.
CRC is the security check that Clip Browser does in comparing the files before and after downloading to make sure they are identical and therefore transferred correctly in their entirety.

Gentlemen, Snow Leopard and XDCAM Transfer do work together, I have version 2.11.0 working fine on my new MacPro.
Tell me Paul, why did you take the trouble to put Media 100 onto your MacBook for location downloading? I download BPAV files direct from the camera on to small portable drives (via the MacBook) without using Media 100. Craig will urge you to do this using Clip Browser (with CRC on) for safety although I have to confess I merely drag and drop into folders I have named BPAV (followed by the shoot date).
