The new (just out) Sony F6 is the camera for you. Fully pro but small, light, has everything.

Ron, I’ve only just seen your post of February. I still make a lot of BDs for HD videos and find that my edition of Titanium Toast (Version 11 I think) does a great job. I need to attach an external BD burner (Lacie). The later editions of Toast say that you have to have an extra ‘add on’ to burn BDs, so I kept my old version!

April 1, 2020 at 3:08 pm in reply to: How’s business right now? (Also, what and where?) And how are YOU doing?Tim, I guess that I’m really f….d, 85 years old ! I’m cutting a complicated doc at home, Media 100 of course and want to get it done before I die. Mind you, I’m pretty fit, two hard gym sessions a week for thirty plus years bu, as you say, the odds are against me. See isolating but for how long, this darn thing is going to go on for ever it seems, at least until we get a vaccine, and then there’ll be a scramble for it. Never mind, the art is the thing.

Hal, I’ve just seen your first post. I used an EX 1 for some years and was always guided by the great Doug Jensen (Vortex Media) who issues Master Classes on most Sony cameras.
He is very firm in his advice that it is unwise in the extreme to mess about with the contents of the BPAV folders. However, once I had the whole file on my edit drives I extracted the clips without problems. It might be safer for you to shoot your new material leaving the original media on the card, once it is all ingested you would then be able to delete the unwanted media, a bit of a nuisance but safe!Michael Slowe

Well, as long as there’s no artificial light involved, I leave my setting on 5600Kelvin for sunsets and very carefully control the iris setting to get the desired effect. If you have a decent monitor you should be able to get acceptable footage without getting too complicated.

I’m staying with the older OS and Media 100, version 1.1.7 (I think).
Why change, everything works, I can edit, grade, use Boris Red, re conform, adjust aspect ratio etc etc, what more do I need? Is there any reason why it would stop working for me? I have the last of the Mac Pro towers with an SSD drive inserted. I need another twelve years (I’m 84), possible???Michael Slowe

November 10, 2018 at 2:06 pm in reply to: M100 suite V2.1.7 on macOS Mojave – 10.14.Steve, can’t answer any of your questions I’m sorry to say, but, what do you want to do that you can’t do on Media 100. I’m also running version 2.1.7 but on an older OS and find that there’s no reason to use any other application.
It is an unfortunate fact there there will be no further development, its been too long in limbo now for there to be a wide enough user base. Still brilliant as far as I’m concerned but the modern craze always for new things has done for Media 100.Michael Slowe

October 5, 2018 at 11:08 am in reply to: “old” Media100HD better than the newest version ?Thanks Marcus. It seems that I have to stick now with my Media 100 version 1.7.1 which, to be honest, does all I want. I also use BitVice to encode my DVDs as it has a wonderful ‘downscale’ HD to SD and the discs look almost as good as BDs. If I upped my OS there are quite a few applications which would no longer work for me. What I might do is to shoot 4K in future because within Media 100 I am starting to re frame using the Motion Editor window. Can I place 4K clips on a 1080p timeline or do I have to have the programme set to 4K?

With all these Sony cameras there is one man who can tell you anything you want to know, that man is Doug Jensen (company name escapes my old brain just now!). He does the workshops for all the camera and is brilliant, wouldn’t start operating any new Sony camera without first consulting his workshop.
