Just want to double check if the footage was atutaly shot in HDV or DV (the FX! will shoot both.

If it was shot in HDV check to make shure that the camera is set back to play back the HDV as HDV (the camera can also downconvert and play back HDV as DV)

If the record setings and Play back setings are net all HDV it will not show up in FCP ass HDV

apple a will automaticaly select every thing or just drag your mouse over all of them, it only takes a second or two

Dont master in a format that is more compressed then what you shot unless you absolutly must.

If you want a tape master get a DVCPRO HD deck, if you cant afford a deck consider mastering to a file stored on an external drive.

Good point about the version of flash that people might have however people could say the same thing about other formats windows media and quicktime.

I think it is fair to say that there is no one universal file type. what works for one may not work for another, there are just to many factors involved.

You cant squash every ant with one footstep, so just get as many as you can.

I personaly disagre that Windows Media is the most universal.

Flash is by far the most universal.

You can crossgrade the accademic version, I have heard that you get the non academic version in return but I cannot verify this.

Just check that the part number on your FCP box is listen on the form

walter is right accademic versons cant be upgraded, using upgrade discs, but the crossgrade is a littlel different

yup FCP 3 was released years before HDV even came out

its like asking the current verson of FCP to work with formats that will come out several years from now
