    Hi
Bit late on this one, but I have FCS Academic and I need to know whether Apple will crossgrade it to another academic version or whether they will send me a ‘retail’ version.
    Thanks

From what I understand, Academic versions are non-upgradeable. You must purchase the full retail or full academic version to upgrade. The serial numbers on the Academic versions flag them that way.

A friend of mine purchased the Academic Studio and he’s unable to upgrade it. He must purchase the full retail to upgrade.

Sorry I didn’t make myself very clear, I was referring to the Universal 5.1 crossgrade. I have heard that Apple sne you a retail version for an academic version of FCStudio

You can crossgrade the accademic version, I have heard that you get the non academic version in return but I cannot verify this.

Just check that the part number on your FCP box is listen on the form

walter is right accademic versons cant be upgraded, using upgrade discs, but the crossgrade is a littlel different
