I don’t know of any other forums specifically about data recovery.

I hope that you kept your FCP project file on a different drive, they you can just recapture your video. That is something I and many others practice.

Have you used so far to try and recover the files?

it sounds like it was able to get most of the file but not all of it, thus leaving a corrupted file. And there is nothing I have ever seen that can fix a corrupted file like that.

It is not built into the OS of 10.4, you Apple douse offer backup software with .Mac, or there are several 3rd party softwares.

Its because those custom settings are stored in your preference files.

Like the last person said use FCP Rescue it creates a backup of your good preference files that it uses to replace the ones that have gone bad.

The Install disc that you purchase separate will work on any computer that meets the requirements on the box.

The Disks that come with the computer are specifically for that model of computer.

I believe that the 3 CCD chips in the Sony DSR-570 from the Rental kit are 2/3″ where the CCD’s from the XL1 are only 1/3″.

I would stick to the DSR-570.

Most rental places I know also offer an insurance option as an additional add on the the price of the rental.
